Warragul Mosque - BINAI·

Eid ul-Adha 2026 is expected on Saturday 7 June or Sunday 8 June 2026 — and Warragul Mosque will be hosting the Eid prayer for Gippsland's entire Muslim community.

This is one of the most significant days in the Islamic calendar. If you are in Gippsland, Baw Baw Shire, or anywhere along the Princes Highway corridor — from Pakenham to Traralgon — Warragul Mosque is your home for Eid.

When Is Eid ul-Adha 2026?

Eid ul-Adha falls on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, the final month of the Islamic lunar calendar. In 2026, this is expected to be:

  • Eid ul-Adha 2026: Saturday 7 June or Sunday 8 June 2026
  • Confirmation: subject to the sighting of the crescent moon beginning Dhul Hijjah

The confirmed date will be announced via Instagram @binai.charity and Facebook as soon as it is known. Follow us to stay updated.

Eid Prayer at Warragul Mosque

The Eid ul-Adha prayer (Salat al-Eid) will be held at Warragul Mosque on the morning of Eid day.

  • Location: 72 Victoria Street, Warragul VIC 3820
  • Expected time: approximately 8:00–9:00 AM (confirmed time announced closer to the date)
  • Duration: approximately 30–45 minutes including the khutbah (sermon)

Arrive a few minutes early. Eid draws a larger congregation than a typical Jummah — parking on nearby streets is available, and carpooling is encouraged.

What Is Eid ul-Adha?

Eid ul-Adha — the Festival of Sacrifice — is one of the two great Eid celebrations in Islam. It marks the culmination of Hajj and commemorates the obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him), who was willing to sacrifice his son at Allah's command. At the moment of sacrifice, Allah replaced his son with a ram — a mercy that Muslims commemorate to this day.

On Eid ul-Adha, Muslims across the world:

  • Perform the Eid prayer in congregation
  • Offer Qurbani — the sacrifice of an animal (typically a sheep, goat, or cow)
  • Distribute the meat to family, neighbours, and those in need
  • Celebrate with family and community gatherings

The day is marked by joy, generosity, and gratitude.

What to Wear and Bring

  • Wear your best and cleanest clothes — Eid is a celebration
  • Women are encouraged to dress modestly and bring a prayer covering
  • Bring a prayer mat if you have one (the mosque has limited extras for a large congregation)
  • Bring joy — Eid Mubarak greetings are exchanged freely

Can Non-Muslims Attend?

Absolutely. Eid at Warragul Mosque is open to the whole community — Muslim and non-Muslim, residents and visitors. It is a joyful occasion and a meaningful window into the life of Gippsland's Islamic community. If you have never attended an Eid prayer before, you are very welcome. Just arrive a few minutes early and follow the lead of those around you.

Qurbani — The Sacrifice

Qurbani (the Eid animal sacrifice) is an obligation for Muslims who are financially able. BINAI can assist with Qurbani arrangements. Contact us at hello@binai.org.au or 0457 643 672 for details about Qurbani options for Eid ul-Adha 2026.

Alternatively, many Islamic organisations offer online Qurbani services that arrange sacrifice and distribution in countries where need is greatest.

Help Build a Permanent Eid Home

Every Eid ul-Adha, every Jummah, every prayer happens in a building the community does not own. We are raising $800,000 to purchase 72 Victoria Street permanently — so that Eid in Gippsland always has a home.

If the spirit of Eid ul-Adha — generosity, sacrifice, and giving for the sake of Allah — moves you, consider a donation to the building fund. Your gift is Sadaqah Jariyah: ongoing reward for as long as the mosque stands.
