Warragul Mosque - BINAI·

Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on or around Saturday 6 February 2027 — and at Warragul Mosque, it is the most important and most beautiful time of the year.

For Gippsland's Muslim community, Ramadan at the mosque is a chance to come together daily — for Iftaar, for Taraweeh, for Fajr, and for the late-night vigils of the last ten nights. If you have never experienced Ramadan at a mosque before, this is your invitation.

When Is Ramadan 2027?

Ramadan follows the Islamic lunar calendar, shifting approximately 10–11 days earlier each year.

  • Expected start: Saturday 6 February 2027 (subject to moon sighting)
  • Expected end / Eid ul-Fitr: Sunday 7 or Monday 8 March 2027
  • Duration: 29 or 30 days

The exact start date is always confirmed by the sighting of the crescent moon (hilal) on the evening before. BINAI will announce the confirmed start date via Instagram and Facebook as soon as it is known.

Taraweeh Prayers at Warragul Mosque

Every night of Ramadan, after the Isha prayer, Warragul Mosque holds Taraweeh — the special nightly prayers in which sections of the Quran are recited by the imam. By the end of Ramadan, the entire Quran will have been recited. This completion — the Khatam — is one of the most moving moments in the Islamic year.

Taraweeh at Warragul Mosque begins approximately 10–15 minutes after Isha each night. In early February, Isha falls around 10:00–10:15 PM (AEDT). Times shift as the month progresses.

Iftaar — Breaking the Fast Together

Each evening at sunset, the fast is broken with Iftaar. Traditionally, the fast is broken with dates and water before the Maghrib prayer, followed by a meal.

Warragul Mosque hosts community Iftaar dinners throughout Ramadan — an open table where the community gathers to share food, prayer, and connection. These evenings are among the most cherished nights in the year.

Everyone is welcome — Muslim and non-Muslim, long-time community members and first-time visitors. Ramadan is a month of generosity, and that generosity extends to all.

Specific Iftaar dinner dates for Ramadan 2027 will be announced via our Instagram @binai.charity as the month approaches.

Suhoor — The Pre-Dawn Meal

Suhoor is the pre-dawn meal eaten before the fast begins each day. In early February 2027, Fajr (the dawn prayer that marks the start of the fast) falls around 5:00–5:15 AM in Warragul. Muslims wake before Fajr to eat and drink before the day's fast begins.

Some community members gather at the mosque for the Fajr prayer together — a special quiet moment before the sun rises and the fast begins.

The Last Ten Nights — Laylat al-Qadr

The last ten nights of Ramadan are the most sacred nights of the year. Among them is Laylat al-Qadr — the Night of Power — described in the Quran as better than a thousand months. It is the night the Quran was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Muslims seek Laylat al-Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan — most likely the 27th night. Warragul Mosque holds special programs and extended prayers for the last ten nights.

These nights draw the whole community together. If you have only one night to attend the mosque during Ramadan, make it one of the last ten.

Eid ul-Fitr 2027

Ramadan concludes with Eid ul-Fitr — a joyful celebration marking the end of the fast. The Eid prayer is held in the morning, followed by celebration, gift-giving, and feasting.

Warragul Mosque will hold Eid prayer on the morning of Eid ul-Fitr 2027 (expected Sunday 7 or Monday 8 March). Details will be announced closer to the date.

Help Build a Permanent Home for Ramadan

Right now, Warragul Mosque is leased. Every Ramadan, every Taraweeh, every Iftaar dinner happens in a building the community does not own. We are raising $800,000 to purchase 72 Victoria Street permanently — so that future Ramadans always have a home.

If this month moves you, consider giving a Ramadan donation to the building fund. Sadaqah in Ramadan is multiplied many times over.
