About BINAI
Warragul Mosque is operated by BawBaw Islamic Network Australia Inc. (BINAI), a not-for-profit incorporated association serving the Muslim community of Gippsland, Victoria.
For decades, Muslims living in Warragul, Drouin, Trafalgar, Moe, Traralgon, Sale, and across Gippsland had nowhere local to pray together. The nearest mosque sat more than 45 km away in metropolitan Melbourne, making weekly Jumu'ah a three-hour round trip and daily congregational prayer impossible.
In 2024, a handful of local Muslim families came together to change that. They incorporated BINAI, secured a temporary space at 72 Victoria Street, and opened the doors for the first Friday prayer in Baw Baw Shire's history.
Today, Warragul Mosque runs all five daily prayers, weekly Jumu'ah, Quran classes for children and adults, youth programs, interfaith gatherings, and community charity drives - all from a rented temporary space. Our capital campaign is raising $800,000 to buy the building and fit it out as a permanent, purpose-built Islamic centre for generations to come.

What we stand for
Our doors are open to Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Ask questions, sit with us, learn. Everyone belongs.
We follow the mainstream Sunni tradition with respect for classical scholarship and local Australian context.
No overseas funding, no politics. Built, paid for, and governed by the Muslim families of Baw Baw Shire.
From interfaith partnerships to charity drives, we serve the whole region - Muslim and non-Muslim.
Timeline
BawBaw Islamic Network Australia Inc. registered as a not-for-profit incorporated association in Victoria.
The inaugural Jumu'ah prayer at our temporary venue on Victoria Street, Warragul - the first Friday prayer ever held in Baw Baw Shire.
All five daily prayers established. Quran classes for children launched.
$800,000 capital campaign opened to build Gippsland's first purpose-built permanent mosque.

A mosque is more than a prayer space. It's where new Muslims find mentorship, grieving families are supported, children learn the Qur'an, marriages are solemnised, and the broader community is invited in for interfaith conversation.
Every dollar donated to Warragul Mosque is sadaqah jariyah — a continuing charity that will benefit worshippers for generations, long after we're gone.
Every dollar goes directly toward daily operations and building a permanent home for prayer, education, and community in Baw Baw Shire.
