Ramadan 1447 / 2027

Ramadan in Gippsland

The holy month is the most alive month at the mosque. Whether you're 3 years into the deen or 30, come and taste it with us — one iftar, one taraweeh, one dua at a time.

What to expect

The Ramadan rhythm

Iftar every night

We break fast together at Maghrib every evening of Ramadan. Meals are prepared by rotating volunteer families.

Taraweeh after Isha

20 rak'ah taraweeh led by huffaz from our community and visiting imams. Typically finishes by 10:30 PM.

Suhoor tip sheet

We share a simple, nutritionist-approved suhoor guide in the Friday email — practical, local, and budget-aware.

Laylatul Qadr (last 10 nights)

Extended Qiyam on the odd nights of the last 10. The night of the 27th is particularly full — arrive early.

Eid al-Fitr

Community Eid prayer, breakfast, and celebrations at the West Gippsland Arts Centre on the morning of 1 Shawwal.

For visitors

Thinking about coming to your first iftar?

  • You don't have to be fasting to come — you're welcome as our guest.
  • Arrive 15 minutes before Maghrib so you can sit with people.
  • Modest clothing is appreciated; we can lend a scarf if needed.
  • The meal is free; donations are appreciated but never required.
  • Ask anyone anything — Ramadan is when people want to talk about it.

How to contribute

Ways to support Ramadan

Sponsor an iftar

From $350 you can sponsor a full community iftar in the name of a loved one. A2 dedication board at the meal.

Cook & serve

Volunteer to cook or serve on a night that suits you — we'll pair you with an experienced team.

Zakat al-Fitr

Pay your zakat al-Fitr through BINAI and we'll distribute locally before Eid prayer (approx $15/person).

Monthly donation

The most sustaining gift — covers bills, taraweeh costs, and the youth camp that follows Ramadan.

Sponsor an iftar this year

Your gift feeds a full community iftar and earns the reward of every person fasting.
