Eid

Eid with the Gippsland family

The biggest gatherings of our year. Eid prayer, breakfast, hugs, photos, and takbirat — everyone together, from the youngest to the eldest.

Eid al-Fitr

1 Shawwal · End of Ramadan

Held at the West Gippsland Arts Centre in the morning. Doors open early; salah usually 7:30–8:30 AM (exact time confirmed the night before, once the moon is sighted).

Eid al-Adha

10 Dhul Hijjah · Hajj season

Typically held at the mosque or an overflow venue depending on numbers. We also coordinate qurbani (sacrifice) for families who want to arrange it locally or overseas.

The morning

What Eid looks like with us

  1. Takbirat

From fajr until just before Eid salah — the community joins in takbir throughout the venue.

  2. Eid salah

Two rak'ah with extra takbirs, followed by the Eid khutbah. Arrive 15 minutes early to get a spot.

  3. Breakfast

After salah — sweet breakfast with tea, dates, samosas, and kids' treats. All are welcome to stay.

  4. Visits

Many families then visit each other through the day — you're welcome to stay at the mosque as long as you like.

First Eid in Gippsland?

You are not alone. Lots of people come to their first Eid here — new Muslims, families who have moved to the area, or travellers passing through. Just come. We'll introduce you to people.

Support Eid celebrations

Eid breakfast, venue hire, and kids' gifts are funded entirely by community donations. Every contribution helps.
